Full-Length Bio

Homespun is a Fargo, North Dakota-based folk duo featuring Sydney and Aaron Niehaus. Blending acoustic guitar, fiddle, and rich vocal harmonies, the duo draws from folk, bluegrass, and traditional roots music to create a sound that is both familiar and distinctly their own.

Both Sydney and Aaron grew up surrounded by acoustic music. Sydney comes from a family of musicians who formed a small bluegrass family band, giving her an early connection to the fiddle and bluegrass community. She spent summers attending the International Peace Garden’s Old Time Fiddle Camp and, over the years, developed her own sound rooted in acoustic folk and indie music. Aaron’s lifelong connection to the fiddle led him into the Upper Midwest folk and bluegrass scene, performing with groups including the Cropdusters and founding the Kohlrabi Soup Bluegrass Band before developing his own work as a solo performer.

Sydney and Aaron met in 2022, and what began as a friendship rooted in a shared love of music eventually grew into a regular musical collaboration around the Fargo-Moorhead area. As Homespun, the two bring together their backgrounds in folk and bluegrass with a mix of familiar favorites and traditional songs. They create an acoustic set centered around good songs, strong harmonies, and a genuine love for the music.
